Sessions with Emma
Hi, I’m Emma. I created Red Tent Yoga in 2009 in Byron Bay as a place for women to come together for yoga, movement, meditation, massage, to sit in circle, for healing, support, workshops and more. During this time, I taught weekly classes for women, Pregnancy and for mothers as well as birth workshops, support groups and massage. Recently, after 8 incredible years, I sold the studio to spend more time with my adolescent daughters, family and friends. I continue to run classes from the studio which is now the Woman’s Shack as well as privates from my home in Byron Bay.
I have been practicing yoga since 1996 and in 2001 completed my first yoga training with Swami Satchidananda of Integral Yoga in the U.S.. The first yoga classes I taught were at the Integral Yoga Institute in New York City. I then travelled to India where I practiced with Pattahbi Jois of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga and then trained in Yoga Therapy with Desikachar, son of Krishnamacharya in India.
Upon returning to Sydney, I was offered to teach a prenatal yoga class and within a month I was pregnant with my first child. Throughout my 2 pregnancies & into motherhood, I have maintained my practice of Yoga, Meditation and Ayurveda. I have also trained in pregnancy & postnatal yoga, I-Rest level 1 and have studied Ayurveda at Naturecare College (Sydney), as well as with Ayurvedic Doctors in India.
I am currently a senior teacher for Blissbaby Yoga, teaching on pregnancy and Postnatal Yoga trainings as well as for Byron Yoga Teacher Trainings.

Emma has been teaching women’s yoga for 20 years and during this time has created a feminine approach to yoga for women using a wholistic approach including the body, breath, emotions, mindfulness & intuition. The practice can be dynamic or restorative depending on your needs as an individual woman.
Prenatal Yoga & Birth Preparation
Emma has been trained in and teaching Yoga for Pregnancy for 15 years. She has developed a way for women to connect deeply with herself & baby through the yoga practices and techniques to birth consciously and powerfully. All Classes include yoga postures & birth positions, breathing for pregnancy & birth, meditation and deep relaxation. Emma currently teaches regular group Prenatal Yoga Classes on Monday mornings at 9.30am
Postnatal & Mums & Baby/Toddler yoga
Through her own journey of practicing yoga after birth and her years of experiencing teaching new mothers, Emma has a solid understanding and knowledge of what a woman’s body needs in the postnatal phase. Emma offers ways to re-connect with your body, develop strength in the body, focusing on the pelvic floor and abdominals, as well as showing mums how to relax their body & nervous system during this transformational & busy time of her life.
Love Your Body Program
Emma created the Love Your Body program several years ago after spending a weekend away with a group of friends. The program includes, yoga, ayurveda and self enquiry to develop a more loving and connected relationship with your food, eating and your body.
Emma discovered and fell in love with Ayurveda 20 years ago. She has since trained in Ayurveda in both India and Australia completing a Cert IV in Ayurveda Lifestyle Practitioner. She has personally experienced the benefits of Ayurveda, especially after giving birth and moving through the life cycles of a women into menopause.
