Following the inspiration of “The Red Tent” book by Anita Diamont, Red Tent Yoga was created in 2009 to support women on their life journey – from maidenhood to womanhood, for some of us through pregnancy, birth and into motherhood.  And then into peri-menpause & menopause that takes us into later life as the wise-woman, elder and eventually the crone.

Our philosophy is about ‘Creating a Safe Space’. It is essential for us women to feel safe and secure if we are to thrive, feel comfortable in our femininity & sexuality and to prosper in our life. This is a very old primal need that we all share as women, and possibly a reason for women either living or gathering together as a powerful force.

Another philosophy Red Tent Yoga offers is “Nurture the Woman, Nurture the Community”  … when a woman allows herself to be nurtured, her body and mind are revived and her energy and spirit is restored. Every woman is nurtured in a unique way whether it be through breath, touch, sharing, connection with others, movement, stillness or song. It is in this way that she can go back out into the community, to her family and friends, where she can serve as a vital and inspiring feminine force.

For 8 years Red Tent Yoga was a studio space in Byron Bay, Australia. The physical studio still exists now as the Woman’s Shack where I continue to teach some Red Tent Yoga classes and workshops.

As well as maintaining real live face to face classes, workshops & events, Red Tent Yoga is now expanding by creating a Virtual space for women in the form of information, blogs, online courses, videos and workshops for women at all stages of life. These new offerings can be enjoyed anytime, in the convenience of your home or anywhere you feel comfortable, safe and expansive. I will be joined by other women who have expertise, knowledge and passion for supporting women in her own inspiring and formidable way.
